SUMMARY:KARL. Compagny Betty Boibrut’ (France)
DESCRIPTION:Directors: Nathalie Avril et Lucie Gerbet\nActresses: Lucie Gerbet & Isabelle Tesson\nComposer: David Charrier\nLight designer: Guillaume Cousin\, Jordan Lachèvre\nAssistant director: Nadège Tard\nTechnical manager: Romain Voisinne\nWith the support of: Saint Hilaire de Riez\, Le Fuzz’Yon\, Notre Dame de Mont\, La Balise de Saint Gilles Croix de Vie.\nPhotos by: Laetitia Baranger \nPremiere: February 5\, 2019 \nKarl is a square guy. A little too square. One of Karl’s little ones wants to look good and have extraordinary adventures. But Karl\, obtuse\, disagrees. He will have to reinvent a way of seeing things. That of rounding the corners. There are rules. There is life. Karl knows the rules well\, they are reassuring. But what about life?  \nBetty BoiBrut’ was born to create and distribute LA ROUL’HOT – mobile sauna. In this pop and fun scenography\, Betty offered a street thalassotherapy: an invigorating breath of fresh chili pepper! Then the Bettys mixed their worlds around the tangram game with the intuition that seven geometric pieces could tell a story. A mischievous creation\, ‘Karl’ is a puppet show for young audiences that carries meaning and emotion. Prop masters\, builders\, composers\, graphic designers\, puppeteers\, administrators\, what binds the Bettys is the search for authentic emotions carried by a demanding aesthetic and a poetic message. \nAfter a stint in cartoons\, Lucie Gerbet discovered the world of entertainment under a circus tent. Wearing many hats\, she is in turn a prop master for the opera\, a singer\, a puppeteer in children’s shows\, a builder of digital artwork for the artist Guillaume Cousin or a scenographer. With Laetitia Baranger\, they founded the Betty BoiBrut’ Company in 2011 to create La ROUL’HOT – a mobile sauna. In 2019\, she co-created the puppet show for young audiences KARL – an animated tangram on a sliding canvas with the director Nathalie Avril.  \n \n
