Have you ever seen puppets being born? In a Tasty Story performance you will. You will not only witness that moment, but also learn a lot yourself. This is a contemporary interactive performance, teaching to create puppets or even stage a whole performance, using the most simple tools. In a playful way children aged from 3 to 6 will be engaged in a creative process and invited to a fantasy world, where everything is possible. The wolf refuses to eat the sheep, who has come to visit him, because it is tired and so gentle… The wolf takes care of the sheep and worries that it might get in trouble. And that’s how stereotypes of a wolf being mean and evil are broken. A firm and lasting friendship arises. Don’t hurt and bully others – is the main idea of this performance. Is this possible in real life? Of course it is!
Panevėžys Puppet Wagon Theatre was established in 1986, following the initiative of the manager and director Antanas Markuckis. Every year in the middle of summer the troupe prepares their wagon and hits the road, visiting Lithuanian towns and villages, where they are welcomed by children, anticipating an unseen and unheard fairytale.
During one season the theatre releases from 3 to 4 premieres, presents around 300 performances and welcomes around 20000 visitors. In 2003 in Denmark Antanas Markuckis received a H. K. Andersen award for promoting and cherishing the work of said author. The Puppet Wagon Theatre represented Lithuanian theatre culture in Denmark, Estonia, Netherlands, Russia, Belarus, Poland, France, Sweden, Ukraine, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Holland, Belgium, Moldova and was awarded multiple prizes. This is a one-of-a-kind puppet theatre in Europe.
